Marvels Kevin Feige Has Ideas For More Marvel Crossovers, If The Fox Deal Happens

Comic book fans are still reeling from the events of Avengers: Infinity War, and unsure how the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe will function once Phase Three ends. One of the biggest questions around the MCU's future is whether or not the proposed deal between Disney and Fox will come to fruition. If so, there's a possibility that beloved Marvel characters like the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool might eventually make their way to the greater cinematic universe. While this would likely be many years into the future, it turns out that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been flirting with a few ideas for crossovers. As he tells it,

I have vague dreams and vague ideas. But right now, bringing to life the 10,000-plus characters that Marvel fully controls is what the game plan is.

While Kevin Feige certainly has his hands full with the final few installments of Marvel's Phase Three, the idea of bringing Fox's characters into the MCU is too tempting to ignore. And though he's keeping tight lipped and only coming up with hypothetical ideas, the excitement is palpable.

Kevin Feige's comments to Daily News are sure to echo the thoughts of the many Marvel fans out there. Because while the comic book characters have been spread across various production companies, they're all connected in the comics. Characters like Wolverine have battled Thanos, and the Fantastic Four and X-Men are some of the most iconic characters in Marvel history. While Infinity War united all of the MCU's heroes in a grand fashion, it could have been even better if Fox's characters were there too.

When Disney first made a bid for 20th Century Fox's various assets, the first thought for comic book fans was the superhero franchises. Obviously Fox has a ton of properties at its disposal, but the idea of the Marvel Cinematic Universe becoming even bigger is enough to make most fanboys drool. But the possible merger would take years to implement, and there's no guarantee it'll happen at all. Things took another interesting turn when Comcast put their own competing bid in for Fox, which was immediately upped by Disney again.

Disney does seem like the most likely choice to eventually acquire 20th Century Fox, although it's unclear how long that could take, if at all. There's a ton of red tape to cut through, as the possible merger has massive implications on the entertainment world. So even if becomes official a la the recent deal between AT&T and Time Warner, we're probably going to have to wait to see the likes of Mystique and Black Widow together. That is, if the actors decide to continue playing their respective Marvel characters.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is in theaters now, helping to fill out the universe leading up to Thanos' finger snap. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
