When Star Wars: The Last Jedi May Be Hitting Digital And Blu-Ray
Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been so successful that it isn't entirely out of theaters yet, but fans who want to see it a lot more may not have long to wait, as it looks like we may have a line of the film's digital and Blu-ray release dates. Apparently, the New Zealand iTunes page is listing a digital release date of March 14, with word coming that the physical disc will follow a couple of weeks later on March 27.
The standard practice these days is for movies to get a digital release date first, with the Blu-Ray coming out a short time later, and so the rumored dates for Star Wars: The Last Jedi line up pretty well, indicating that these dates could be valid. Star Wars News Net discovered the release date listed on New Zealand's iTunes page. The North American iTunes does not currently list a date, and home releases like this aren't always the same across the world, but the site also contacted a local retailer regarding The Last Jedi's physical release and the store gave SWNN an estimated release date of March 27, so seeing a digital release on the 14th makes sense.
The dates also line up with the release dates of the last two Star Wars films. They saw digital releases in late March/early April with physical releases following that, so these dates would see Star Wars: The Last Jedi coming out a bit earlier than the previous films, but not by a great deal. These dates also put the longest gap between digital and physical release for any of the new Star Wars films, but it's less than two full weeks.
We know that the home release for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will include a number of deleted scenes which director Rian Johnson has already spoken about to some degree. Beyond that, we can expect some behind-the-scenes extras regarding the film's production and the other standard stuff we see attached to Blu-Ray releases.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a very different sort of Star Wars movie, some people loved that fact, others not so much, but it's likely that because of it, the extras that show what happened during the movie's filming could be quite a bit more interesting than they are for other films. Much has been made of Mark Hamill's comments about the direction of his character Luke Skywalker that Hamill made after The Last Jedi hit theaters. I wonder how much of Hamill's concern we might actually be able to see as it happened?

For now, James Wan and Amblin are looking for a writer for the Arachnophobia remake. That's proof enough to indicate that these are very early days as there is not even a script ready as of now. There is no mention of a director, but, that decision would be made, most likely after a script is ready.

UPDATE: Once Upon A Deadpool has an even more touching Stan Lee tribute.
