Deadpool Director Tim Miller Wanted Negasonic Teenage Warhead To Be A Villain

While superhero movies have become commonplace, there are few franchises that manage to stand out among the rest. Chief among them is Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool films, which shattered expectations for the character, R-rated movies, and comic book projects as a whole. The fourth wall breaking blockbuster series once again returned for its highly anticipated sequel with Deadpool 2. David Leitch took over directing duties from Tim Miller, who departed the project early due to creative differences. While the sequel was still a great success, it turns out that Miller originally had very different ideas for the characters, especially Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Hildebrand recently opened up about Miller's original ideas, which included Negasonic becoming a villain.

I know that we switched directors for the second film, but I remember after the first film was over, Tim was like, 'Wouldn't it be great if your character was a villain next time?' And I was like, 'That would be sick, yeah, sure, why not?' And that's definitely not the way that it went.

Now this is interesting. While Negasonic Teenage Warhead was still in Deadpool 2 and even got a new girlfriend, she wasn't anything close to a villain. That is, unless she's backsassing Wade Wilson.

Brianna Hildebrand's comments to Red Carpet News are sure to surprise the Deadpool fans out there. No one could have predicted her character taking such a big turn. Although given her general disdain for the world (including Deadpool himself), the ground work might have been laid in the original Deadpool movie. She was shown hating everyone and everything, so perhaps one big tragedy or traumatic incident would have triggered her transformation into a villainous character.

In the end, Deadpool 2 didn't really have a villain-- although Josh Brolin's Cable provided an antagonist for the Merc with a Mouth to clash against. While the original Deadpool told the story of Wade's revenge and rescue of Vanessa, the villain in the sequel was a bit more ambiguous. Sure Cable was there, but it mostly felt like the title character was his own worst enemy in Deadpool 2. The sequel portrayed grief, self-destruction, and chosen family-- even though it was also full of sly references and some blue humor along the way.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead might not have been a villain, but she did have a supporting role in the action of Deadpool 2. She's part of the plot revolving around Wade Wilson's brief stint in the X-Men, with Negasonic revealed as a full fledged member of the team. She also made history due to her relationship with Yukio, which was the first same sex-relationship in a superhero movie. We'll have to see how Brianna Hildebrand's character factors into the still developing X-Force flick.

Bumblebee Director Has Plans For A Potential Sequel

Bumblebee was a very different sort of Transformers movie, and while it didn't put up Michael Bay like numbers at the box office, it was much better received by critics and others who had been more critical of the more explosion-heavy entries in the series. While more Transformers movies are certainly coming, we have little idea what they will actually be. However, if anybody is looking for ideas, they should ask Bumblebee director Travis Knight, because he's apparently already got several potential movies mapped out in his head.

The word on the street is that development has begin on a direct sequel to Bumblebee, and if that's the case, and the studio wants to bring director Travis Knight back to make it, it sounds like he would love to return and he could also give that development some direction. According to Knight...

In my mind, I have all kinds of ideas for where Charlie goes from here; where Bumblebee goes from here; where Optimus Prime goes from here. In my mind, Ive already made those movies on some level. If the stars align, would I tell another story in this universe? I mean, I love these characters, so itd be a thrill to be able to tell a different kind of story in this universe. Time will tell.

Bumblebee told the story of the popular Autobot's arrival on Earth where he befriends a teenage girl named Charlie, played by Hailee Steinfeld. The movie ends with Charlie and Bumblebee parting ways, as Bumblebee reunites with Optimus Prime. However, it sounds like, based on what he tells, THR, if Travis Knight gets his way, all of these characters would come together for a sequel. Steinfeld had previously told me in an interview that she would be up for a sequel, as would John Cena if the option was there, so it sounds like all the necessary humans are ready and willing.

We were expecting a new proper sequel to the main Transformers franchise to hit this year but the film was pulled from the release schedule last year and we haven't heard much about it since. Franchise producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has previously stated that the next Transformers movie will aim to combine elements of the main series and Bumblebee, something that has the more emotional character story of Bumblebee while still having plenty of "Bayhem" for those who love the city-destroying action sequences the series is known for.

As one of those people who preferred Bumblebee to any other Transformers movie, and was also a big fan of Kubo and the Two Strings, I would love to see Travis Knight return to make another Bumblebee movie. Whether or not it will happen we'll need to wait and see, but we can be sure that something new will happen with the Transformers movies before too long.

We know of at least two movies that will follow Avengers 4, the movie that's being touted as the one that will close the book on this current chapter of the MCU. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 have been announced, and they have release dates, while we have to assume that a Black Panther 2 will happen, as well. So during the recent Avengers: Infinity War press day, Marvel President Kevin Feige opened up about a few details regarding Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, and revealed plans to continue taking Webhead out of his comfort spot of Queens. Said Feige:

We start filming early July. We film in London. We shot first film in Atlanta. And we shoot a lot of films in London but there's another reason we're shooting in London which is, yes, Spidey, of course, will spend some time in New York, but he'll spend some time in other parts of the globe.

This quote, obtained by io9, could mean a number of different things. Spider-Man could have to go to Wakanda to partner with Shuri (Letitia Wright) to fend off whatever villain is coming his way. Spidey might need to check in with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and Marvel filmed the original Sanctum Sanctorum in London -- though the Infinity War Sanctum set was in Atlanta.

Or, it is being speculated online that Peter Parker's adversary in Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 (it won't be called that) might be Kraven the Hunter, so Spidey could be traveling to remote areas of the globe to take the famed big-game hunter down... though Kraven first came to New York City to hunt Spidey, so that would be a game flip. Could the Savage Land be on the table as a new area Marvel Studios wants to introduce? Could Spidey travel to Russia to confront Kraven on his home turf?

Taking Spider-Man (Tom Holland) out of New York City so soon seems premature. The hero just decided to dial into his blue-collar Springsteen vibe at the end of his introductory solo movie. Now he's traipsing the globe? The first time Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) took Peter to Germany for Captain America: Civil War, they played it as a big deal.

However, as we know from the Avengers: Infinity War trailers, our friendly neighborhood hero will find himself in space (!!), so keeping him limited to Queens might be a bit much after Avengers 4. As Kevin Feige elaborates to io9:

The way Civil War and the fact that he went to Leipzig Airport and then has to go back to school, informed Homecoming, the two Avengers films that precede [the sequel] will greatly inform, probably even more so, the next movie.

Right now, this Spider-Man sequel has a release date of July 5, 2019, making it the first movie to hit theaters after Avengers 4 opens in May 2019. A number of questions need to be answered between now and then, and it all starts when Avengers: Infinity War opens on April 27. This could certainly be a B-plot in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but we don't expect that Scorpion will wind up being the sequel's central villain. Not to mention that so far, Michael Mando hasn't been announced to appear in Far From Home.

Last September, Sony and Marvel hosted me on a visit to the Spider-Man: Homecoming set. It's still one of the coolest things I've ever done.
