Deadpool 2s Honest Trailer Brings Back Ryan Reynolds Himself

In a movie market saturated with superhero movies, Deadpool stands out from the pack for several reasons, chief among them his habit of breaking the fourth wall. In the midst of his cinematic adventures, Wade Wilson pokes fun not just at what he's going through, but other areas of pop culture. But Ryan Reynolds' iteration of the Merc with the Mouth doesn't just keep his wisecracking limited to the big screen. Back in 2016, when Deadpool found itself the subject of an Honest Trailer, Reynolds reprised Wade to poke fun at the movie, and now he's back for the Deadpool 2 Honest Trailer. Only this time, he'd rather spend his energy on a different target, as you'll see below.

The Deadpool 2 Honest Trailer starts off normally, with the narrator commenting on how the sequel was surprisingly good, if not better than Deadpool, especially given that it arrived just three weeks after "a funeral," a.k.a. Avengers: Infinity War. But then Ryan... sorry, Wade Wilson pops to predict what he's going to say next about Deadpool 2 and chew him out for not doing an Honest Trailer about Coco, which is what commenters have been asking for. Then, deciding to take matters into his own hands, Wade hijacks the Deadpool 2 Honest Trailer and use it to critique what Honest Trailers does on a weekly basis. For instance, when Wade notes the "logic gap" that if Cable changed the future, he wouldn't need to travel back in time in the first place, prompting the narrator to agree, Wade retorts that this is a movie about a "cyborg cartoon with huge pouches and tiny feet." It's not worth looking at this story like it's set in the real world.

This latest fourth wall break from Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool came at the expense of Honest Trailers, but it proves yet again why Deadpool is so unique among the other characters leading their own superhero movies. He gets to tease and tear into all the tropes, whether they're superhero-related or not, and if that requires him barging into an Honest Trailer unannounced, then so be it. That being said, the Deadpool 2 Honest Trailer ended with Wade departing in disgust after learning that Honest Trailers has been nominated for three Emmys, but the narrator suspects that he'll be back for the Detective Pikachu Honest Trailer. Fingers crossed that actually ends up happening. In fact, let's just have Deadpool crash all future Honest Trailers that are about Ryan Reynolds movies.

Deadpool 2 is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. The Merc with the Mouth, as well as Cable and Domino, are expected to return for X-Force, which is being written and directed by Drew Goddard, and Deadpool 3 is in development as well. Tim Story Has Excellent Advice For The Next Fantastic Four Director

The exact future of the Fantastic Four on the big screen is uncertain, but it seems quite clear that, at some point, one way or another, the first family of superhero comics is going to make their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Back in 2005 Tim Story became the first (save an unreleased Roger Corman project) to make a big screen Fantastic Four movie, so you can be sure he has some thoughts on what to do with the characters going forward.

CinemaBlend's own Mike Reyes caught up with Story doing press for his newest film, Shaft, and asked him if he had any advice for the next director to take on Reed Richards et al. Story's first thought was simple and clear...

First, I'd tell them to listen to Kevin Feige. Kevin Feige is the man.

As advice goes, this is a pretty solid suggestion. Kevin Feige gets a lot of the credit for making the Marvel Cinematic Universe the powerhouse that it is today. While writers, directors, and actors have changed from one project to the next, Feige is there overseeing everything to make sure that it all fits together and feels like it's part of a single cohesive universe.

Kevin Feige wasn't made the President of Marvel Studios until 2007, but he's been involved in Marvel movies of all kinds since the original X-Men in 2000. He was an executive producer on both the 2005 Fantastic Four movie as well as the follow up, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007. One can assume that Tim Story got to know Feige at that point and likely made his decision that Feige was "the man" back then.

Of course, Tim Story isn't entirely without some other advice, as he does say that doing research on Reed Richards wouldn't be a bad idea, but ultimately, Story thinks Marvel Studios has all this well in hand and fully expects the new MCU Fantastic Four to turn out great, saying...

I would just say, do all your research on Reed Richards. Stretching is not easy. But I wouldn't have much to say, they've got an incredible, incredible system happening over there and I don't think they need to be told anything. I can't wait to see it.

It does seem like adapting the Fantastic Four is perhaps a bit more difficult than other comics have been in recent years. None of the three films we've seen since 2005 have been as loved by fans as the average MCU project. Does Marvel Studios really have the magic touch to make this work? We'll have to wait and see.

It's anybody's guess just when we might see the Fantastic Four join the MCU. From all indications, Marvel is in no hurry to incorporate the characters picked up from the Fox/Disney merger. They almost certainly had a plan for Phase 4, and possibly beyond, that didn't include any of these new characters, and it seems unlikely they would blow up everything just to add these characters in as soon as possible.

At this point it looks like we might not even get a hint of a new Fantastic Four until perhaps the upcoming Phase of the MCU has run its course.

The Fun Way Godzilla 2 Is Teasing King Ghidorah

When Godzilla was updated and rebooted in 2014m fans of the property, which has been around since 1954, began speculating about which of the titular monster's fierce foes he would be squaring off with in the future. MUTO was the enemy in Godzilla, but when Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theaters next year, the giant reptile will have significantly more dangerous monsters to contend with. We know that classic monsters Mothra and Rodan are both expected to appear, but the main attraction will be the Godzilla's greatest nemesis, King Ghidorah. Krampus and Godzilla 2 director Michael Dougherty is already hyping the coming of the king; take a look!

This Twitter post from director Michael Dougherty might just look like a radar view of a sizable hurricane, but the heading 'Monster Zero' implies something more menacing than a spot of bad weather, and it should have fans of this long-running franchise excited for what is being teased. This radar may belong to the crypto-zoological organization Monarch, which monitors these leviathans in this shared universe. Monster Zero is another name for King Ghidorah, so perhaps it's also Monarch's codename for him. We may not see Ghidorah for a while until the trailer premieres, and even then they might hold him back to build him up, but this is a fun way to herald his coming.

As you might guess from a monster that shows up on radar, King Ghidorah is big, as in bigger than Godzilla big, at least in most depictions. There's a reason that he has the title of King. Ghidorah is the biggest and the baddest, a golden, three-headed wyvern that can fly and spit gravity beams. His wings can produce hurricane winds, so it makes sense that he would show up on radar looking like a storm. For Godzilla to truly earn the title King of the Monsters, he'll have to take it from King Ghidorah. If Godzilla emerges victorious from his fight with King Ghidorah, his inevitable showdown with the smaller King Kong in Godzilla Vs. Kong should be light work. The monsters are the main attraction, but if this movie is to have dialogue, we need some humans in it. Godzilla: King of the Monsters boasts a fun cast that includes Vera Farmiga, Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown, Sally Hawkins, Bradley Whitford and Kyle Chandler.
