Avengers: Infinity War Could Have Given Thanos And Drax A Big Fight
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is synonymous with the groundbreaking nature of its production, especially starting the trend of serialized storytelling and shared universes. The Russo Brothers have also done the seemingly impossible with Avengers: Infinity War, balancing and servicing all of the MCU's characters in an epic and emotional storyline that packed an emotional gut punch in its final moments. But in order to do that, plenty of material ended up on the cutting room floor.
One of the character pairings that didn't get enough attention was Drax and Thanos. Dave Bautista's Guardian was originally motivated by getting revenge on the Mad Titan, but he was largely pushed to the side for Gamora and Nebula's stories in Infinity War. But it turns out that a fight sequence between he and Thanos was originally pitched, with concept art even being produced. Check it out.
Pretty cool, right? This shows what it could have looked like if the Green and Purple cosmic characters clashed in their own battle. And while Drax took arms up against Thanos twice during the course of Infinity War, they never met 1:1 in the blockbuster.
This awesome new image comes to us from concept artist Rodney Images, who works with Marvel Studios to create its fantastic world. This includes Avengers: Infinity War, which had a long gestation and planning period by The Russo Brothers. The film had to balance a huge ensemble of characters, so there was no doubt plenty of addition and subtraction coming from the film during its development process. Ultimately Thanos and Drax's fight got cut, but hopefully there's still hope of it happening in Avengers 4.
When Drax was first introduced in the first Guardians of the Galaxy, his character met with the rest of the group because of his hatred for Thanos. Thanos killed Drax's family (and half his planet), so he relishes at the opportunity to kill Gamora, and cause the Mad Titan some pain. Obviously the group ends up becoming family of their own, with the two green Guardians uniting over their mutual disdain for Thanos. But when it came to Infinity War, Drax was largely used as a tertiary character, despite coming face to face with his nemesis twice.
Drax fought Thanos in both the original conflict on Knowhere, as well as the super exciting battle on Titan. He got a few blows in, but ultimately the Avengers and Guardians failed to stop Thanos from collecting the Infinity Stones, and destroying half the galaxy with the snap of a finger. The Guardians suffered heavy losses, with Mantis, Groot, Star-Lord, and Drax all fading to dust in the film's final moments. As such, it's unclear if/how Drax will get to face off against Thanos again.
Most Marvel fans assume that the dusted characters will be revived somehow, although the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is still unclear. With James Gunn fired and Dave Bautista his most vocal supporter, Drax might never get a chance to have his story completed.

Michael Fassbenders Kung Fury Just Got Wilder, Added Arnold Schwarzenegger
Back in 2015, director David Sandberg (not to be confused with Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg) released the short film Kung Fury, which at its core was a love letter to 1980s martial arts and action movies. Made off a $630,000 budget, the 31-minute Kung Fury was met with a lot of positive reviews and continues to enjoyed on several digital platforms, but we'll soon be returning to this world for a feature-length sequel. It was announced earlier this week that Michael Fassbender will lead a Kung Fury movie, and now word has come in that he'll be joined by one of the most popular action stars of the '80s and '90s: Arnold Schwarzenegger.
After completing his two terms as California's governor in 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger returned to the world of acting, appearing in movies like Terminator Genisys, The Last Stand, Escape Plan and the Expendables entries. Now he'll be adding Kung Fury to his list of action-related credits, as it was announced that he'll co-star alongside Michael Fassbender and David Hasselhoff, the latter of whom appeared in the original short film. In addition to producing the Kung Fury movie through his Laser Unicorns banner, David Sandberg will also be appearing on camera to reprise the eponymous protagonist. While the official announcement of Schwarzenegger's casting didn't identity the actor's Kung Fury character, THR has heard that he'll be playing the President of the United States.
Set in an alternate 1985, Kung Fury follows the hero of the same name, who keeps the streets of Miami safe by leading the Thundercops. This elite police force's members have been assembled from all across history to defeat the evil Kung Fuhrer, Adolph Hitler. However, after one of the Thundercops falls in the line of duty, a new villain emerges to assist the Kung Fuhrer in obtaining the ultimate weapon. With no other options left, Kung Fury will have to travel across time and space to save his allies, defend the Miami Kung Fu Academy and wipe our the forces of evil for good. Assuming that Arnold Schwarzenegger's President isn't corrupt and working with the Kung Fuhrer or this mysterious enemy, ideally that means that he'll be Kung Fury's ally, presumably giving the main hero his orders or something along those lines. David Hasselhoff will likely be voicing the Hoff 9000 again, but it remains to be seen how Michael Fassbender's character fits into the story.

Ghostbusters 3 Trailer Teases Horror Influence And The Original Mythology
Last night, it was announced that a new Ghostbusters movie is on the way, but rather than being a sequel to the 2016 reboot, it will be set in the same continuity as the original movies. Less than a day later, the first trailer for this new project has been released, teasing both the scarier elements of the Ghostbusters movies and how we're returning to the world where the art of busting ghosts was first perfected. Since we're years off from seeing this new Ghostbusters movie, it was to be expected that this trailer from Entertainment Weekly wouldn't feature any actual footage that will be in the finalized cut, but this preview does set the mood quite well. Off in the distance, someone is working on a piece of machinery on a spooky night. When we get closer to the barn, pieces of the original Ghostbusters score start to play, and if you look closely, you'll see a little bit of ectoplasm on a fence, signifying that there is indeed something strange in the neighborhood.
Finally, once we're inside the barn, that device finally powers up, and the energy discharge indicates it's a proton pack, what the Ghostbusters use to contain their supernatural targets. Arguably more important, though, is what's underneath that tarp: the Ecto-1, the Ghostbusters' infamous vehicle. But clearly it's seen better days, so why has it been languishing in that barn? And who was working on the proton pack off-camera? Is it one of the original Ghostbusters members? Those are questions that won't be answered for a while, but at least fans of the franchise have this video to enjoy in the interim period.
If this Ghostbusters trailer is indeed hinting at the plot and not simply a video meant to get fans excited, then it indicates that the Ghostbusters team has been inactive for a long time. Of course, we saw a new team of Ghostbusters active in the present day just a few years ago, but that was in a different universe. As far as the original Ghostbusters universe is concerned, and if you don't count other media material (like the 2009 video game), we haven't seen individuals hunting down supernatural entities since 1989's Ghostbusters II. Whatever's this next Ghostbusters movie ends up being about, presumably there will be some mention of what's happened in the three decades since we last saw Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore.
Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, director of the first two Ghostbusters movies, is directing the new Ghostbusters movie and co-wrote the script with Monster House director Gil Kenan. The plan is for production to begin later this year so it will be ready for release in summer 2020. No official plot details have been revealed yet, and it remains to be seen if Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd or Ernie Hudson will reprise their respective roles (Harold Ramis passed away in 2014). That said, Ivan Reitman, who's producing the new Ghostbusters movie, has described it as a "passing of the torch," and it's been reported that the four main protagonists will be teenagers, two boys and two girls.
